Property Details and Perks

  • PRIVACY! An 8-foot-high thick viburnum hedge extends the entire length of the property on one side. The pool has “Florida glass” (opaque “screen”) instead of regular screening on the side of the pool which would overlook the other neighbor’s house. The back of the property is a beautiful woods (a protected conservation area) with thick foliage.
  • FENCES: There is a green, plastic-coated fence along both sides of the property, extending to the woods (but not blocking the woods). There is a wooden 6-foot-high privacy fence and gate on both sides of the house.
  • ALARM SYSTEM: Brinks alarm system. All the doors and windows are wired. The smoke alarms are wired too. And there are glass break alarms. You are protected against not only intruders but fire. If a fire is detected, the fire department is immediately dispatched even if you’re not home. To keep the monthly monitoring going, it will only cost you $40.65 each month. I’d recommend it.
  • SAFETY FILM ON GLASS: In 2007 all windows were covered with Vista window film which not only provides a tint to offset the UV light, thus lowering the electric bill by keeping the house cooler in the warm months, but it also will prevent windows from turning into shards of glass in the event of a heavy wind. In fact, it will protect the windows in up to 130mph winds. And it makes it impossible for a thief to cut through if they’re trying to break in. • MOTION DETECTORS and STREET LIGHTS: Flood-light motion detectors are installed at key points all around the house. Plus, for whatever unknown reason(!) the electric company installed a street light half way down the edge of our property, which means the entire (huge) front yard is flood lit all night. However, because the majority of the windows overlook the BACK of the house, this light is not disruptive in any way. It’s simply another safety feature.
  • FIREPLACE: Beautiful flagstone fireplace with mantle (see photo; hard to describe). Had it and the chimney completely cleaned in 2007. The chimney sweep said it’s in great condition and to have him come every three years for a checkup and normal cleaning. Not expensive.
  • HEATED POOL: Screened-in pool area, with 32×13-foot vinyl pool, 9818 gallons, and includes a small fountain.  Masonite steel door with internal (between the inside and outside windows of it) mini-blinds (so they never get dusty!) was installed between house and pool area in 2006; plus the pool enclosure has two outside screen doors.
  • MORE POOL STUFF: Solar panels and heat pump for heating the pool; plus sand filter; all installed in 2006. The pool has an overflow pipe which prevents any flooding of the pool even during heavy rains. In 2006 we had a wireless doorbell installed so you can hear the doorbell even when you’re in the pool area. And in 2006 we replaced the pool motor. There is a custom-cut solar blanket for the pool to keep the heat in.
  • POOL DECK: In 2007, the boring cracked cement deck was completely redone and now has a beautiful cement flagstone look that complements the house and property which incorporates flagstones throughout its theme. Plus it’s sealed; and they added an additional drain in the pool area.
  • FRONT WALKWAY: In 2007, a flagstone and small-pebble front walkway was installed with dwarf hedges planted along each side of it.
  • DRIVEWAY: Asphalt driveway was installed in 2006, replacing the driveway made of small white stones.
  • GARAGE: Over-sized 2-car garage with a large workshop area. New hurricane-resistant steel Clopay model 73 door was installed in 2006.
  • FLOORS: Two of the bedrooms downstairs, the stairway and landing, and the master bedroom upstairs are all newly-carpeted in 2006. The rest of the house has designer, upscale ceramic tile.
  • FRONT DOORS and FOYER: Once you enter this home through the elegant Masonite (Fir Door Collection) wooden front doors (installed in 2006) you will find yourself in an exquisite foyer with designer mirror wall on one side and oversized walk-in closet on the other side, and a beautiful ceramic tile and marble floor.
  • ROOF: Shingle roof installed in 2003, in excellent condition; plus Gutter Helmet (cost $7000 in 2006) put in all new gutters plus gutter helmet protection so you never have to clean your gutters! Read all about their product at http://www.gutterhelmet.com/.
  • FLOWER BEDS: In 2007, we had decorative concrete edging installed around most of the flower beds and in a circle around each of the two lovely sego palms in the back yard. We also had red rubber mulch put around all the plants in the flower beds. Wooden mulch attracts carpenter ants and fades quickly. Rubber mulch never fades, doesn’t attract insects, and has a 20-year warranty! And it keeps the weeds from growing.
  • LOTS OF SPACE: There is plenty of room for your RV or boat or a great big garden or a putting green! A long tarp-covered frame is located in the back to protect an RV or boat.
  • CEILING FANS: There are ceiling fans in almost every room!
  • SPRINKLER SYSTEM: An extensive sprinkler system was installed in 2006.
  • WATER HEATER: In 2006, we had a new A.O. Smith Electric Water Heater installed.
